Love Is…

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

True love is fickle at best, sometimes. But in your heart, you know who kisses you good-night, has loved you from the very start. So work through the differences and strive together with each other’s singular pain, for loving one true there is much a greater award to gain.

Love Is…

Life is short, our days are like the flowers in fall of a dying field.
They blossom with all of summers glory.
They blossom and unto the kind heart,
They have much to reveal.

Each day, a relationship will face its joy and turmoil.
Yet when it is true love, it shall endure forever and the work of darkness, it shall never spoil.

My love for Jan is as true as the day is long;
I love her with all my heart and I know that by God and through God we truly together belong.

My hours at work, though they may be plenty:
Little time do I have with her,
However the minutes, the few hours, I feel her grace and the tenderness of her touch,
There’s no way to explain how one could love this much.

I come through the door from work,
Each and every night.
And when I see her face and her smile,
The burdens of work fall out of place.

She is my queen, she is the love of my life.
And without her, these which I write,
Would never arrive on theses pages of white.

Therefore Jan, I love you with my very heart and soul,
For you came into my life for a reason,
And with your love you make me whole.

I love you Baby and I always will,
Thus forgive my shortcomings and shall we through God’s blessings,
To each forever give.
