Poem Artwork
The Light in the Sea

A ships light shines as if it were but a faint star on the coal blackness of the sea.

Five to six foot swells make it appear to wink. Long jagged streaks of lightning cross intermittently across the night sky. Long rolling thunder competes with the incoming tide.
And with peace in my soul that the ocean to me does bring, I with silent joy softly sigh.

Too long has it been since she has spoken this way with me. Oh yes she is my forever love; the endless unwavering sea.

Yet tonight a part of me spites my selfish joy for the darkness has called out the wayward ones. Yes the lost who have no homes.

It's beginning to rain again and to the comfort of my room I can return. I feel their hurt, I feel the hollow pain and I am torn. Over the years to many I have given until it hurts.

As the rain picks up I arise from my comfort and reflection. I turn and look once more at my lady the sea before turning to see three time worn faces staring at me. They say nothing as I slowly by them pass. I continue on and under my breath for these I softly pray.

Why I wonder, why does it have to be this way?

Pretty this is, though you are speaking of MY ocean & she does not like to be spoken of by land-lubbers who walk her beaches in long pants and shoes...:) -e- (:
