Storm…

While at Brunswick, Ga. our half way stop home, we got a room for the night. We had just gotten through eating supper out and decided to ride out to Jekyll Island. A storm was brewing over the ocean, so we didn’t go onto the Island and so we turned around. By the time we got back to our hotel, the sky was pitch black except for the lightening getting nearer. We went into the room and Allen said he wanted to walk around and watch the storm. He didn’t get to the door when boom…Lightening hit nearby and the lights went off…he left anyway and said he would sit under the overhang and write this poem. BTW, the lights were out for over an hour, at least our alarms didn’t go off, but you could hear alarms all over hotel alley…and of course fire trucks and cops coming in with sirens blaring. The next morning, very early, chainsaws, leaf blowers and noise all over the place…

Storm…
Fire rained down from the ferocious sky...The flat salty marsh trembled in fear.
Storms raged and the sea began to weep as the fiery skies started to bleed. A flash and then another and another tore across my face. I reached out to grab a flash of light, seeking tomorrow only to find yesterday.
As swift as it came it went. It's fury and energy spent. I looked down at my hands now burning from the fiery storm . The sudden silence was deafening as I looked towards the sea which no more did weep.
It was over and a certain sadness came over me. If but for a moment I rode the winds of fire only to once more become the man of the past still filled with longing hopes and dreams.

Your poem was not gloomy, so I wonder why felt that way.
