My World; Visions of Night

Sitting on my swing late at night with my cup of coffee, I review my day and I try to put in perspective things that went wrong or even why something went right when everything was against it from happening. After I have cleared my head; I look, I listen (at least to the few noises I can still hear as I lose more and more of my hearing each and every day) and I contemplate the what if’s and the voices in my head.
What if this big old world is but a fishbowl and the skies up above is our water. But then again, what if we are like the birds, put here to fly among the skies. To wake to the dawn with song.
What if the night is just a view of the darkness we will experience once we are gone from this earth.
What if…

My World; Visions of Night
I stare into the night sky above me and see a splash of blackness sprinkled with silver sparkling glitter. The canopy of trees encircle me.
My perspective is that of a fish; small, unassuming and trapped in a bowl of darkness. Surrounded by silence, crippled by the voices in my head.
I have no legs, no feet. I float hapless in the murky waters of life. The songs of the morning have gone, songs which now fall on deaf ears in another time and place.
The wind blows unrelenting in the world above me. The waves spin the skies above me and threaten my very existence.
The night has come and my visions remain the same. Enclosed inside this body, this cage of mine. I only wish to fly, escape and dance among the glitter which fills the night sky.
Hope remains lost for you see, I once flew too close to the sun in somebody else's dream.

I, too, am losing my hearing. It is beginning to get quite difficult communicate with my caregivers sometimes. And, like the fish you describe, my appendages have become more numb with time making me believe that I only have fins for navigation, not arms and legs, as I swim in a position I can't change for the life of me.
