Cover Of Green

Poem Artwork
Here lay I, beneath a cover of green,

Waiting for glories emancipation

from this endless drawn out dream.

So do not cry as you stroll on by,

for I shall have peace on the other side.

For my days before were filled with a poor mans grief,

With little in the way of comfort, for none was ever afforded me.

My days with the living were endless, full of labor and toil,

And my nights were unassuming excursions into my soul.

Yesterday’s dreams ran away from all of my tomorrows,

Leaving disillusionments heaped upon mountains of sorrow.

Shallow and empty were these times, in which I lived,

Yet, now I am free from the pettiness of dreams unfulfilled.

For the tears I once cried,

have long since dried,

beneath my cover of green.

So do not cry, as you pass me by,

For at last…the peace I imagined is seen.

Yes... Seen from beneath

a cover of green.

For now I sleep,

at last in peace.

At last

No more

Tears,

No more

Dreams,

Peace at last,

Beneath the

Cover of green.

This was particularly well received, as I had a 22yr old friend commit suicide the morning it was written.

At last
No more

Hi Allen,

I liked this line here Allen,

Yet, now I am free from the pettiness of dreams unfulfilled.

there seemed to be an invisible 'yet' trailing on the end, which would certainly mean hope carried, beyond that green, :) al

If the person under the cover of green used his talent to write as he does in this poem, he would not have had such a bad life, when alive, LOL! As always Al, I love your stuff, you have got to put all these in a book of some kind...Peace thru Writing, Ed & Rufuz

My kind friend, only your body will
be under that cover of green...YOU

only Heaven can bring.
Superb write as always from you.

Your friend, *Linda*
