Poem Artwork

First kiss...so cute and cuddly
innocence of age
Mama, don't let your children
grow up too fast.

Passing time, many suitors
to come, how different the
color of rose bouquets...
spectrum of buds from youth
unfolding as each unique
variegated one comes and goes

Mama taking pictures
first date off to the movies
remove bubble gum...
for buttered popcorn
Dad giving up his keys, be in
by ten, he says

And then all too soon, flash of
your eyes, and that telling kiss
that says...I Love You, still that
little boy and girl inside...who want
desperately to become Mr and Mrs

But, then you say another son or
daughter (in law) added

extending the loving family

Starting from that first kiss
amid roses of baby love
all thorns removed
walking down the aisle
proudly with their circle of the rings
United ... pronounced man and wife.

From Roots came Wings to Fly

Stepping back in time to see the full picture with eyes of love, compassion, and respect, simply beautiful...

Be always safe,

You've penned the change of children becoming adults very well.

Beautifully written. The baby steps to the aisle often too quickly rushed into but hope rings eternal for all the best in these to continue in love just as if the first time.

True innocence to be treasured, Vivian,
and fading fast from our world invaded by
gimmickry and empty images. At the moment,
the British government is considering introducing
legislation to control the content of overtly sexual music vidoes
which are unsuitable for children - a noble
suggestion but not possible to enforce or 'police'
unless the parents do it...and most won't or can't.

A lovely poem about the early years of "coming of age", enhanced even more by the precious picture you selected. A wonderful "looking back" poem that can be enjoyed by all. Tender, loving and sweet... much like the Lady Vivian we all know. Joy L. Hale

This poignant little poem speaks for all parents, you have captured that frisson experienced when the child becomes an adult, the mixture of apprehension and optimism. I like the "thorns" analogy, life's a bit like that.

How cute and vividly imagined. Never rush them to grow up they'll get there in time. Some sooner, others later. life is never the same once we grow up. Wonderful poem Vivian. Love it. George AKA THE WISE OLD OWL

I can be remember being in a rush to grow up or reach the age of maturity and for what? Now I'm enjoying my second childhood or is it the third? Oh well, what a lovely and beautiful poem. Liz

A perfect poem you create inspired by the perfect picture. The beauty of poetry and pictures is that you can create your own perfect fantasy. Too many kisses have said I love you, you love me. Too many broken hearts followed them. C'est la vie.

Can't remember my first kiss, but I do remember the first time a little girl . . . Figure it out.

Sweet poem. Growing up. We were all in a huge rush for that, huh? After it got here it wasn't exactly what we thought it would be.

Still, we made the best of it and life more or less took care of the rest.

I missed out on a lot of life because of my rambling, but some say II saw real life simply because of it. I suppose both are right.
