"It was traditionally believed
that the souls of the departed
wandered the earth until All
Saints' Day, and All Hallows'
Eve provided one last chance
for the dead to gain vengeance
on their enemies before moving
onto the next world. In order to
avoid being recognized by any
soul that might be seeking such
vengeance, people would don
masks or costumes to disguise
their identities"
~A Haunting by Death~
Zero to 60 I can become
witch'ie as your biggest
haunting nightmare but
even in daylight you are
not safe since I am the
dark side side of You
Meaning of life grows
stronger when you don't
call upon me letting
intuitive visions integrate
All Saints' Day releasing
seasons of real or imagined
fears from All Hallow's Eve

It's good to be reminded that the origins of Halloween are far removed from the commercial manifestation today. In Celtic culture it's called Samhain; the feis or feast day when the door to the other world opens to let the souls of the dead pass through. I like your idea that we the haunted may soon become those who haunt.
Zesty slice of wickedness in here. The picture is a captivating thing. Just the word nightmare is pretty horrible, especially for people who regularly have them. ~~ DIana
Thanks for the history lesson. I was wondering where all that strange behavior came from. There is always send historical reasons for the rituals we find so amusing and timeless.
A wonderful "witchie" tale told well. Also, thanks for the background on All Hallows Eve, I had never heard it before. Your poem tells an interesting tale that absorbed my senses. Good write.

Thank you for the history lesson, Vivien. Mow it is up to us to be careful forbearance. The goblins I think have themselves. Ahhh, they are gobbling across this threshold.
Welcome!
The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help.
