They serve cookies and a red punch
The music has the boys tapping their feet
girls stand guard of each other
The streamers catch the eye
of the auburn haired girl
A fiery headed boy notices and smiles
she looks away shyly
her dress is yellow and has a wide hem
the yellow satin ribbon that laces her long hair
is a stark contrast to her smooth brown skin
the red head boy moves closer
to the auburn haired girl
 nervous spasm over takes him
but he asked the girl to dance anyway
she is awed by the red of his hair
and the green of his eyes
she takes his hand and his heart sails away
his lack of skill has her giggling
a smile brightens his freckled face
the night started out as a chance for disaster
as the young teens experience their first dance
But, the red haired boy thinks the night has just gotten better
as he holds an auburn haired princess in his arms
yes indeed, life itself, just got a whole lot better!
