War and brutality have always been with humanity. And they always will be, right up to the prophesied Armageddon, shortly after which the 2nd Advent will occur, and Christ will take back His creation, and then, what's left of humanity, will enter into the Millennial Period. Until then, death and war will increase exponentially, and the dreams man has of governing himself peacefully and honestly and effectively, will remain just dreams. Food for thought. "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the Heavenly realms." Men have always been willing to garner weapons to protect house and home from villains of all sorts, from animal to human. In pastoral life, one must secure land to grow the crops necessary for survival. If one is very successful at that survival and gains wealth in place, all the more reason to provide for its defense against oppressors who would take the land and kill the occupants.

Women, on the other hand, have occasionally throughout history taken up arms in defense. But for the most part, bear the suffering of gathering up their children and fleeing. A wise decision when if they do not, the oppressors will surely rape them, rape their children, and kill them without a thought to their death. That is the horror of war that women take their children and flee from.

Driving off the oppressor/destroyer and killing him, restores the land and the family to a peaceful existence. To prosper in love once more.

A wise man no doubt, and I love the sentiments. However there is evil in the world and when war comes, yes, if it means saving the weak and innocent, the children and infirm and all those who did not ask for war but had it forced upon them...then we should be prepared with wahtever force it takes to protect them.
We would not stand by and see a neighbour bullied and beaten by another neighbour so why would we let another country destroy a country only for the sake of craved power of an evil man. Nobody wants or wishes another world war but we do have to ask ourselves and our respective governments how many children will we let die by the hands of a dictatorship.

Wars are horrible! It came from the ugly hearts of those people who craved wars. I wish people would learn to live in harmony instead of fighting wars.
