Back up against cold hard concrete
vibrating with rush hour traffic.
Cloaked in cast off dirty flannel
scavenged from an urban dumpster.
Unshaven, unwashed, barely fed
existing hour by precious hour.
Walking a mile trashbag laden
to slake his thirst at a fountain.
Ignored by most those he passes
and others expressing disdain.
Junkie, drunk,thief or lazy bum
being judged without just cause.
Name unkown, unasked, unwanted
presence shunned by all but destitute.
Returns to the protecting bridge
trys to survive another long night.
Thrashing about unpleasent dreams
even sleep is without solace.
Cast off by civilized mankind
his fault or just luck of the draw.
All but for fate this could be me
and could someday still maybe be.
Do I help him or just pass by
like everyone else before me.
Anna
You obviously have sincere feelings on this matter which shine through between the words. Good job.
We can all help even in some small way if we have a mind to...After all, Love makes the world go round...

Not really a question!!
Much peace, love and light, dear friend,

I realize that life is different now, but I was a street person for about two decades, plus. I refused to allow my self to get in the dumpster category though. I would work out of day labor places, get paid just enough to pay for a cheap room for the night and something to eat. Most of those I ran into were there because they wanted to be, I was there because I wanted to be also. Then, one day I woke up and decided the street was going to destroy me, so I began the process of escape.
Maybe the answer for all our cast-offs, be they animals or people, is to provide for the unwanted people but with the proviso that they care for an unwanted animal - Look after the pet well and we look after them well - Could work.
