thoughts as driving through northern West Virginia last week.
Deciduous eastern forests
in thier most vibrant coloring. Evergreens the only verdants
are of pines, spruces and cedars. Explosions; crimson, amber and
yellow, orange, rust with mixtures. Patches of umbers, sepias
other tones of browns in between.
Floating, wafting leaves on the breeze
covering dieing grasses deep. Ancient towering naked limbs
now barely filtering the sky. Leaves us all in wonder and awe
at natures autumn spectacle. Lasting only for a short time
til the last leaf falls 'fore winter.
INDEED, FALL IS A 'FEAST' FOR OUR HEARTS, MINDS, SOUL...AND EYES!!! MY, WHAT A GREAT GOD WE SERVE WHO GIFTS US WITH...SEASONS!!! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS
I was only in West Virginia once, for a week...around Huntington and Milton...It was in October, really warm, but the thing that I remember the most was how much the countryside looked like Oregon...that and my hosts introduction of me to what she called "bucket steak" and it was delicious...Just like fall in West Virginia.
Wish I could read with the colors used... I will have to come back when I have more time so I can copy and past to notepad.. I know I will not be disappointed .. never am with your writing

Your description of natures wonders is always beautiful and in great detail.
Beautiful painted vision Budd
Oh I envy you! Reminds me of the days I would get in my car and drive up into the mountains of northern West Virginia see all the color on the slopes and valleys. The maples and oaks surrounding farmhouses along the highways were often the most spectacular.
There is a new phenomenon today. Deep snow like I experienced when we had 23 inches on the ground and there was only one lane plowed into town, 8 miles away.
The visual treat that awaits those who drive thru northern West Virginia in the Fall is so spectacular it defies the capacity of words to capture. You just came close...very close.
And such an insight deserves accolades, even as your prime line for this reader: "Ancient towering naked limbs now barely filtering the sky," begs we embrace the emptiness allowed through those naked limbs, the vacuous essence of cleansing, making magnanimous Nature's invite to venture among the openness of winter, to envisage the Spring and to enjoin season's rise from the depths of cold, snow, ice and revelation. Such are the makings of insightful souls, made manifest way beyond the commercial definition of power-mongered definition. Ah, to just enfold the seasons for their own sake, sans the supernatural nonsense. Thank you for making it so clear... to those of us unshackled from the despot anxiety of the impoverished.
Budd, I strained my eyes trying to read this faint orange colored words. I finally had to lift it and paste it on a blank Word so I could read it.n It was a fine poem, and you hit all the high points with the many colors that we are subjected to this time of the year.
I like reading poetry black on white, but I know I must be in the minority, there seems to be a growing number of people who like to play with the words color.
From First Love to its destructive end and on to new beginnings, Mary Angela Nangini's poems explore the birth and death of a relationship. The powerful poems are presented in two parts with an introduction to her next book My Ontario Beautiful. (Th
