A vision on this snowy morning february 3 2013

Poem Artwork

White frozen soft once liquid bits of fluff
continue to gracefully cover all.
As Mister Also Ran stares through the pane
watching the titmouse scamper for his needs.
Steel skies overhead foreboding an dour
give not hope of return of the robin.
Not a sign of life but for this small bird
reminding him of his own search for peace.
This snow does not stop nor titmouse's search
Should this sight be Mister Also Ran's feat.

Sun's warming light now so filtered and cold
as the warmth of love without someone near.
Man's heart can beat and pound throughout his head
but your arms are empty with no life felt.
As Mister Also Ran stands and watches
his tiny visitor is still dodging.
Layer upon layer of frozen white
burying what titmouse still seeks.
Leaving the portal of viewing behind
Mister Also Ran alone again weeps.

Out of the seeming serenity of white covering the world is the struggle for all beings to uncover and dig and find. I like the plays on words and the perspective from the minds of small critters. Well done! (I am back after a long hiatus - good to see you here.)

Multiple meanings in this one,and all are thought provoking;the picture evokes sadness, such a desolate but fitful scene for February in many places.Fitting use of the word 'Mourn', rather than 'Morn'.
Continued success-

Budd,
A crisp February morn nature's ambiance in your expressive verses.
One heartbeat to Mister one to a scampering titmouse.
The crystals of the snow mesmerize the soul in peace.

I like the layers of meaning and the sorrow expressed in the loss caused by the snow and regret.

So full of dichotomy, Budd. The expressions you were able to capture in these lines are rich and complete. The sensations of watching, feeling, warmth and cold (weather and emotion). This piece of writing, to me, gives poetry its distinction from prose. Excellent. ~~ Diana

Nicely done, Budd...I truly "felt" your words...For me, as I'm sure for many, this month, although the shortest of the year...is the longest!

If ever true emotion speak so eloquent, it is truly this poem, Mr. also ran, far from it, you are running full head into your thoughts, only spring and hope can come off it. Beautiful and true, my hat off to you Budd.

Very sad, indeed. May March's Morn replace February's Mourn.

This is very sad Budd but in its sadness a beautiful poem.
When it's the reflection of your personal being I hope and pray the sun will soon break through to melt the snow and cold away. I hope and pray the emptiness of your arms will be filled with warmth and love.

A heartfelt write

The emptiness of arms holding nothing and the search for peace must use the little bird's determination in order to feel life and someone near. Such a bittersweet write!

Love ya!

These images portray what you are going through...
It has come from your heart and well presented...

As Jerry said, emotions are weighing Mister Also Ran...
that is the main force here... emotion...

Captivating piece. There's an in and out of sentient conciousness that pervades the work, allowing the lessor elements of nature to longingly coalesce. Beautiful.

Titmouse is merely searching for substance to tide him over until he needs it. He acts on impulse not by thinking things out.

Mister Also Ran, unfortunately, has emotion to weigh him down and to keep him from acting in his own behalf.
