Your name is now six years thick
with meanings complex to my ears soothing
your name evokes the mystery of what
we are to be to each other – friend
confidant, tease, scold, consort,
educator, friend;
with you in my arms in your arms
I feel secure, comfort, hope for our future,
hope that I am for you, too, safe harbor,
your coming home a happy man.
That this be my love may we progress
with comprehension, encouragement
to each other’s ears may our names
always be a fascination, words cherished,
intimate, luxurious in the mystery
of their significance, words
the meanings of which only we know
and each day must relearn.
