Winter Wonder

This poem tells about an father who is going to teach his son a fact about snowflakes. The child's reply makes the adult wonder.

One winter day I told my son Come take a walk with me There's more to snow than you may know 狢'll show you so you'll see. The flakes which fell on my black coat So pretty to behold Lingered a while before they'd melt Because it was so cold I pointed out how differently Each snowflake did appear "No two alike in this whole world!" My wisdom he would hear My little boy gazed at the flakes Which on my coat did fall And then with "pearls" he asked me this, "Why, have you seen them all?" � � � �

Ha, ha, out of the mouths of babes, Jane.

The grandma in Hans Andersen's The Snow Queen fairy tale called snowflakes, 'snow bees,' - I thought that was a great description of the no-two-alike snowflakes.

A cute poem and a clever son who asked a logical question when you think about it. So how do we know that all snowflakes are different? We haven't seen and catalogued them all.
