Feelings are hard to describe whether in the relationship.....or the bittersweetness of parting.
Feelings are so fragile
Like the petals of a flower
Like the wings of a butterfly
Feeling are not agile
For they last and have such power
For they stay and never question why
Oh it isn't easy to stop them once they've started
No they don't just go away even though two have parted
For some tiny speck remains although it's never quite the same
Feelings touch the heart and once that's done somehow remain
Feelings can be hurt so
Still because of love forgiving
Still bounce back like a rubber ball
Feelings can let you know
That your life is still worth living
That you want so to give your all
Feelings like disappointment, embarrassment,
irritation, resentment, anger, jealousy, and fear,
instead of being bad news, are actually very clear
moments that teach us where it is that we're holding back.
They teach us to perk up and lean in when we feel we'd rather collapse and back away. They're like messengers that show us, with terrifying clarity, exactly where we're stuck. This very moment is the perfect teacher, and, lucky for us, it's with us wherever we are.
For without these beautiful feelings, we are dead inside...
Hold on to each and everyone of these feelings Jane for without
them we are not the loving souls we are...
A subject so close to my heart Jane, and you have captured the enigmatic quality of them so well in this lovely piece...The changeable nature of deeply held feelings, never ceases to amaze me...or surprise me or sometimes, absolutely frustrate me!!
My very best wishes, Diana...
Oh yes, these words are so meaningful and so true, Jane. Feelings are forever with us, even though, as you say, sometimes they change and aren't the same, they are still, nevertheless still lurking in the recesses of the mind. Excellent poetry.
