I remember being in Finland in 1957. The "gypsies" would come around, read palms, and play their music with violins, mandolins, many gypsy groups had more stringed instruments.

Poem Artwork

Violins pave the way
To viola's gentle sway
Increase to 'cellos sound
Tambourine keep pace

Seeing the fields of grain
Strings take away the pain
Mandolin winds no doubt
Gypsies in the air

Melody pure and sweet
Strings playing on the street
String band on street makes dough
Passers by throw change

Great observation of this unique street scene that has the feel of Mardi Gras (which I have never experienced). Love the way you actually play the music in the poem, especially at the beginning. This poem is worth much more than "change" thrown by passers by. John

I can only imagine what sensations ran through your thoughts and even your body as you watched the gypsies play, dance and sing. I have a feeling it was a magical time. Your words captured the pleasure quite well.
