Thanks for putting up with me in all my bitching & whining...

Poem Artwork

You’re right, the hell with past pain,

At least during, before or after prison,

I was not one of those for my acts slain,

Its been twenty-four years,

And I am still living happily that’s plain…

Why bitch about a childhood filled with dysfunction,

I have made it this long, my fifty-first junction,

I am blessed to have a woman who does me nurture,

My dog is here to see that I stay straight,

I have friends that are like family,

And my life as it is has little on its plate…

I am well fed, perhaps too much so,

I have all my hair, a bit gray around the edges,

I have my sight, my hearing and am in good health,

I also have to some degree a bit of wealth,

I have a great deal to be thankful for,

Nothing gained illegally or by stealth…

So in the future when I bitch, moan or otherwise whine,

Feel free to remind me how my life does actually shine,

Bring up the bad, pass on the good, as well send me a rhyme,

I guess I just needed today some sleep,

To remember that I am still in my prime,

Certainly ain't in any way no crime...

Childhood scars we all wear. My childhood was actually pretty nice. It was my young womanhood that was not all that nice. I wear a battle scar coat when I get in the moods, which are not so often anymore. Time heals all wounds. My battle coat is a white lab coat and in a black magic marker, I have written on the coat all of my abusive scars. I read it from time to time. I have not added one scar in over ten years. It is my therapy coat. The most emotional thing I had written on it was an abusive scene I experienced in Elko, Nevada many years ago when I had no where to go and no one to talk because of the shame and nothing to eat except a can of cold fruit cocktail that I sat and ate with my fingers on the lonely curb. Those were abusive times and now they are good times. I work a different life now all in positive light and I can surely see my results. Just received my quarterly royalty check. Life does shine Ed, and you're lucky you have a full head of hair or it would be shining on Bald Top Mountain. And you are very lucky to have a woman and a dog who love you. A rose for your woman and a steak for Rufuz!

Way to go dear man..WAY TO GO!!

You might be sometimes a pain to RUFUZ...with a stinky so true...but hey THAT IS LIFE...and just a reminder of the good meal...you had a few hours before LETTING THE DOGS OUT....lol!!

Uplifting read this is indeed......although the "grumpy-ness" and seriousness of the UN-smiling face of you shows so much more!!

Be Happy be wise and be GOOD to the SELF!!

I think that sometimes we all need to get it out of our system, so that we can see what we really have. Good write.
