That’s me,

But don’t shed a tear of pity,

I have been alone for many a year,

I though got Rufuz with me & Rene in a nearby city,

Neither of which are very far, let me make that perfectly clear…

For forty-five of my fifty-two years,

Alone on Christmas I have been and experienced a few tears,

I do so to myself, as I feel it is my lot in life,

Many bad things in my life I have done,

This being my payback, my past Karma never undone…

Though I realize the past is past,

And there is nothing I can do to off it cast,

But my self-imposed loneliness & resultant aloneness,

Are of my own doing, I find it better anyway,

As on Christmas I am far from of the sun a happiness ray…

Merry Christmas Ed. You always poem from the heart of humor. Don't sweat the small stuff Ed. Being with someone isn't all it's cut out to be. Maybe at first but after the years past things get kind of routine and blank. I could stand to have a little loneliness and that traveling house of yours. Anyway one of the worst things in life is worry and beating up on the self, so what of the bad. They say what don't kill us makes a stronger person out of us

Something I can relate to...even alone with a crowd filling my home...eating drinking ...leaving the dirty dishes for MADAM TINK's WRINKLED HANDS to clean...or the flies would eat you for Xmas pie!!

Warm Hugs and Soppy kiss!!

Well penned! Nothing I admire quite so much as one with the courage to admit to his mistakes, learn from them and walk away, yet know he will carry them with him always in some form or fashion.

Life is a journey my friend, though there be valleys and switchbacks, a man such as you will always navigate his way through.

Great write, it takes a real man for that matter a real person to admit mistakes of their past...but being alone is not really being lonely, my mother has been divorced since I was one year old...don't mind telling my age, she has been divorced for forty two years and has chosen to stay single and enjoy the solitude...she tells others not to feel sorry for her, that she would rather be alone than to be with someone and still feel alone, much like sherry stated in her review...and I can relate to rooming with Rufuz, my house dog Boomer is one of the best room mates anyone could ever want. Enjoyed your write very much...wishing you you and Rufuz a very merry Christmas from the mountains of Kentucky.

I'm proud of you. It takes a real man to
admit the bad was his fault and not blame
everyone else for his bad.
I to blame it all on me. My bad days are and
have been long gone.
Hold your head up and live to the fullest.
Have a very Happy Holiday.
Do you know where Eileen is?
She doesn't reply to my e mails. That's not
at all like Eileen. Hope she is well.
Say hi to Rufuz for me.

Alone and lonely are not the same thing. It is far worse to be with someone at Christmas or anytime and be so estranged from them that you feel as though you live your life in solitude. I live alone, I like it that way and I have no plans to change it, either, but lonely is not something that I feel. I am a very busy person and I find my own company to be wonderfully amusing and besides I have my crabby old kitty who has been my companion for 20 years now, Miss Shrubs, who is usually by my side. I will visit with friends for a while on Christmas, more because it is important to them, because I would honestly rather stay home, listening to some Christmas music and reading a good book . Soooo...I understand where you are coming from, Ed. Some of us are just better, single, and if I feel alone at anytime, there are always plenty of places to go where there are lots of people. I am very outgoing so I will find many to chat with and have a great time. Merry Christmas, Ed, twist one up and take a sweet trip through Christmas past and Christmas Future, dream any dream that you wish and then make it your reality.
Take care,
Sherry

Ed dear sir, though from past reflux you may not duck, this season you may be in luck. For a call to Santa I did make for you and I told him how you felt so blue. Therefore it is our wish this very day, that Santa will visit you and give you a ride in his brand new sleigh…Merry Christmas sir.

Don't sell beautiful Ruf short, Ed...think how you would feel without him! Besides, being alone is a physical thingie, being lonely is a mind-set. Nope, no tear or pity...You and Ruf get yourselves down with Rene! What're you waiting for??

Whatever you do, wherever you go, ya'all have a Merry Christmas!

At least you admit it's your own doing, Brother. You know I invited you up to creepy old Thornwood Manor for the Holidays, all you had to do was drive up here with Rufie, and those two forlorn pink flamingos.

By the way, I checked with both the mailman, and the Fed Ex guy; neither of them have seen the Christmas present for your very loving brother, Ed. I'm sure it's just delayed somewhere.
