Lil' Hanna Blew Thru Quick...

Poem Artwork

So I slept through Hanna,

No wind did we experience,

And only a few inches of rain,

With the ground all dry,

The rain had plenty of places to drain…

So are we worried about Ike,

Headed he is towards the gulf,

Maybe New Orleans should just,

Evacuate permanently for the hurricane season,

What other choice have they, they know the reason…

Off to the beach tomorrow,

With my metal detector to see what up washed,

Who knows, maybe something of value,

From a wreck that a previous storm had squashed…

You were very lucky not to have gotten struck badly. I hope you get lucky at the beach. Thank you for sharing.

Be thankful you didn't get hit worse! I shudder to think of Ike hitting the gulf coast, that would be a tragedy! Enjoy your beach

That IKE looks like a doozy...hope he'll fizzle out and go back where he came from. Thanks again for a great write.

Rufuz for Pres, I go for that. Love, Bonnie

Latest from NOAA: Ike is supposed to make landfall on the Louisiana/Texas border (more like Texas side of things) - 'bout ready for hurricane season to be over! Glad Hanna banana wasn't as bad for y'all. Got the needed rainfall, no damage, and you slept all night! Could have been worse, you know? An excellent write, well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

We just got a little heavvier rain than usual and the wind kicked up around 4 p.m. lotos of sirens going to traffic accicdents. Those roads get quite slick when rain drenches them. People just don't slow down in their driving like they don't slow down in their lives.

It does seem like an effort in futility in a way, I am glad they take all these precautions to prevent loss of life as in Katrina but a part of my mind thinks it the weather patterns are going to continue like this wouldn't it be wiser to think of moving them to another state if there is no way to protect them where they reside?
It just seems so sad to have to keep uprooting all these people

Hannah and many other women have reported that you slept through their entire visit. (At least that's what Rufuz says!)

As for digging up stuff with your metal detector, if you strike pay dirt, just remember how much you owe your loving brother, and I don't mean that nasty old guy named Edvard!

Glad she spared you the heartache; I just feel sorry for the people along the Gulf Coast; they can't seem to get a break!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

Cool one, Ed :-)

Yep, by the time that lil Hanna got up here to the Texarkana area, she was just mist and light rain and momentary 30 MPH mini-gusts. Ike, well, that might be a different story (150 MPH wind before even hitting Cuba). Those New Orleans folks need to move to Nebraska and let Nagin have the place to himself.
