Granted, I am NOT the only one, but damn if that does not make me feel any better...e

Poem Artwork

I was still employed,

I had no reason to worry,

Money I had a’plenty,

The good times do pass in a hurry…

When I lost my job,

Happy I was, no reason to sob,

Here its almost a full year later,

Maybe for a job I can become a dictator…

Two days a week I’m working now,

One more day I got starting next week,

I want full time, but not with the economy weak,

I’ve tried for a courier job, in my area they do seek,

Nothing back from them as yet, my fear does almost smell, yes reek…

ED - When I met you this past summer, I thought you said that Rene got you that nice SUV, or Jeep, or whatever it is. IF it is paid for - no payments due, consider selling it - at a LOSS, no doubt - BUT - if you can get enough for a used more economical 4 cylinder, it would save on GAS outlay. Just a thought.

NEXT - down here, or up here, whichever - we have DOLLAR TREE stores - EVRYTHING is $1 - ergo, all of the canned goods are 2/$1 = 50 cents - I get all my stuff there - potatoes, stringbeans, baked beans, stewed tomatoes, peas, corn, sauerkraut, soups, crackers, cereals, bread, rolls - and more! NO OTHER STORE IS THIS CHEAP!

I do NOT subscribe to any - newspapers, magazines, no cable, no dish - NUTTIN' HONEY!

REVIEW ALL of your poems - see which got the most favorable reviews, and submit a whole bunch to several different publishers - if anybody likes anything, you might earn a couple of bucks. Can't hurt to try!

Check your local area publications, see what genre stuff they print - send a few samples, maybe even a few stories, especially ones on current events, like politics, economy, war, whatever.

DUM-DUM me, has been posting here at AD for 5.5 years now, never sent anything anywhere else, and never earned a plugged nickel. DUH?

My 3 days a week PT is what keeps me treading water - if I lost it, i'd be right in the same boat with you. heaven FORBID - one of us would go OVERBOARD! and your a big BEAR, so I would get wet & cold - and PISSED!

how about the Seafood restaurants? you know how to clean fish, don't you? and you wouldn't have to worry about the SMELL, huh?

what about Farms? any nearby? Shovelling horse manure is certainly manly work! I'm told it smells SWEET after awhile!

FINALLY - each week INVEST merely ONE DOLLAR on the lottery - JUST ONE, won't be missed, and hell, you might even WIN something - but - "you gotta play to win!"

I gotta get some shuteye - Peace, YOGI BEAR - Peace! TK.

You can always apply for a bodyguard job for Alaska Sarah, my guts tell me you will have your hands full 24/7 protecting the sacrifical goat of the elephant's boys debacle.

I'm glad you are still out there seeking and able to find something in these tough times. My sister just wrote how her whole family is being cut back while still working.

If Rufus would just get that political job, you'd be rolling in it.

I can relate. My son Garrett just got laid off from AT&T, and our daughter works one day a week, and guess who has to help them financially? YUP ... Michele and me! Everything is changing fast. Stay focused and determined bubba. This too shall pass!

(((((Ed))))),

Be happy you are healthy. Able to walk/see/hear/think/talk. You have a car. A roof over your head. Some food. Rene. RUFUZ. The ability to make us laugh in your despair ... know it doesn't help, trust me. But you bless me, by just being you: honest. Funny.

Just count what you have and not the haven'ts. :) You are still in my prayers, always.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(

Believe me I sure got your drift...this is truly hard, and it's so demeaning to those of us who always worked and were successful... It is not our/your fault...and there are millions just like us...but..it doesn't make it any better does it? By the way...my Joe is in the same place, the neighbor next door, and the one across the street... I was earning a good six figure salary with all the perks, but I did work non-stop, and then...bam....took a teaching job for one year just to pay health insurance (the pay was so bad) and then Thank God....I just got soc security...and so I survive...but I'll tell you... our lives just have to change to survive... and that's about it...survive. By the way... I really hope you get more work...and I pray that you will get something really wonderful (since I'm praying....hehe...) Your poem was very to the point...sad, yet still flled with hope... Take care big guy... lindalaw

Oh Ed, I'm so sorry, I felt such sadness and hope in this. Keep the faith for that job will come and it will have your name on it. Love and hugs, Bonnie
