I’ve not got any presents this year,
Not a lot of money for food either I fear,
But Ruffie & I got each other giving us both cheer…
Guess I will be doubling up on anti-depressants,
Like I did every other year that the pickin’s are slim,
At least I have a roof, some heat, & a part-time job,
Surely things have been in the past more grim…
There was the winter I lived on the streets,
Decorated my box with pine needles they smelled so good,
From a store I did steal me some sweets,
I am sorry for that, but needed some special eats…
So Merry Christmas to all, enjoy however you can,
Times will again get better, they have for me, since my time began,
We all probably only see the worlds negative,
I know I am one doing that quite alot,
But things WILL again someday get positive… (I hope)

Very nicely written though the subject is not so "encouraging". You are blessed already, because you're so gifted in writing, and you "gift" each one of us with your poems to savor like Christmas Eve meals, very enjoyable and ...it's free.(LOL)
You and a million others will not be having a very Merry this year. BUT: you're alive. You have a roof, overhead, some food, Rene, Rufuz, your words, and many friends, here: you are blessed. Think about what you have, and not what you don't: others have it worse than you, as evidenced by your title.
