Bars self-imposed,
Same for woes,
Bear with my whine,
Outlook will change,
Back then again I will shine...ed

Poem Artwork

Twenty-seven since,

Imprisoned by bars,

Now though can see the stars,

Free, able to drive cars…

No place to go far & away,

To get there anyway, no money,

Still to the sea I go when sunny,

Free still to a larger degree,

But for some reason it still adds to my dismay…

Though, to be honest, got companionship,

On me the old mutt doesn’t skip,

And to him every drive is a long trip,

Maybe I should think like him,

Before I do quite honestly my wig, flip…

The past is over and cannot be undone, why stay in "prison"? Unlock yourself and be free, wig or no wig. Notice how your dog looks to each day as "new" - he's a great teacher.

I do love the manner in which you share your philosophy, Ed. Thank you. Love and peace to you and to Rufuz,

Ed, we all have days of looking back,or ahead and feeling a lack, wondering "is this all there is" yet when we get over the sulking,we see with new eyes and regain our way of life. Sometimes we need to take action, like get out and walk Rufuz and view the ocean, you're blessed to be that close to it,to receive its soothing moods, that can change your outlook...

Love,
ET

I have to agree with The Bear Paw. Most of us imprison ourselves. Listen to your best friend Ed.Thank you for sharing.

I think many prisons are Self Imposed, Bro. Sounds like you really need a hobby. Do some volunteer work at a homeless shelter, veterans hospital, or animal shelter; do some gardening; or start writing that book, about you and your very faithful friend, Rufie Boy.

Hi Ed, Or should I say Dr. Doolittle!? All bars are self-imposed, and if it takes your pet, whatever or whomever it be, to knock those bars down, then you do what you gotta do. Don't look back, though...

Oh my friend, 'tis better to be "on" the sea, than to be "at" the sea.
All things being equal.
