Nothing happened today,
Nothing anywhere went boom,
So where are the great ISIS bombs,
And their prediction of United States doom…
I wanted to hear of no explosions,
No gas attacks or small bombs,
I didn’t want to see any airplanes crashing,
Didn’t want to hear of people’s lives across their faces flashing…
I don’t doubt that this time will eventually come,
Unfortunately we are in a time of crisis, with perverse peoples,
People that want to blow up, burn down & generally pillage,
Synagogues and churches that have great steeples,
Killing all those that use these places of worship, all from any village…
Today won't be their day, far too much scrutiny. You're right, they will come for us. It will happen when we let our guard down. They are here already, no question about that. The border has quit being a border because of this president. Oh yes, they are here.
A sombre poem, looking back and looking forward. I guess none of us are feeling much optimism about the state of the world at the moment, one way or another, and it's amazing how anniversaries compound the anxious wonderings. I like the way you reflect without sentimentality but with an honest empathy and telling it like it is. Stay always safe, Ed. xx
