You can have Halloween, with my blessings...

Poem Artwork

Who needs Halloween,
As no longer can I eat candy,
And without Rene here I can’t get randy,
So in my bed I will sit & read,
Two new books that look quite scary,
Live with it kiddies, if I can’t eat candy, neither should you…

So what if I am an old curmudgeon,
A recluse, hermit or all around pain in the ass,
I like kids, as long as they leave me alone,
And belong to someone else,
Otherwise on them I would like to use a bludgeon…

Guess I will have to go out tomorrow night,
Go for a ride and stay out till next day’s light,
For to stay home would get me quite pissed,
As I know for certain the little brats won’t of my place miss…

It's not the little kids I mind, it's the big kids as well as the adults that go trick or treating.

Sometime back in the late 1980s, they quit coming to my door. Perhaps it was the apples I gave them, or they became frightened of the crip in their neighborhood.

Unlike you, I love kids except when they are acting stupid. I really hate to see all the commercialization of Halloween and the focus on candy which isn't at all good for them. Scary stories are fine, but the range of movies out there based on Halloween have become nothing more than murderous rampages… Very nice training for serial killers.

CURmudgeon INdeed !!!

I am rarely at home on All Hallows Eve...
So no Trick or Treaters to pester me.
But I do Love this Halloween Night...
And always Dress Up... to be a Fright!
This Eve M'Lady Pat and I shall go
Down to Shooters... for a Costume Show.
Instead of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle...
I will be a Senior Mutant Ninja ? I DUNNO !

A red & black Ninja Hood...
with long Tresses... a hue of Blue...
a dark bathrobe ... color of Navy...
miniature cape behind of Ebony...
a Military Knife & glistening Sword..
of Enemies they will Off Ward !

No prize I expect to Win for Beauty...
unless of course the one for ... BOOBY !

While you yew ewe... Dirty Devil enjoy yer Quiet ...

“I am an old curmudgeon,
A recluse, a hermit, and an
All around pain in the ass:”

But there is still some hope for you,
So head down to the grocery store,
And buy Halloween candy real fast.

Then stand out in your apartment doorway,
Greeting every tricker-treater very graciously,
Making amends, for your pain in the ass past.

Your Always Helpful Brother

Nice poem Ed! I thought my wife and I would go to a movie. Still, some of those kids can be pretty darn entertaining. Boo!

Kind of makes me glad I live in the woods on a mountain and, in fifteen years, not a single child (person) has ever come trick or treating. If I knew they'd come, I'd be ready to hand out something though. Coincidentally, I just posted a Halloween poem myself. Take care bro. Love and peace to you,

Regis
