Her eyes whisper in dark
moist blowings of attention
suspended in never-ending time,
and I sleep when I’m awake
to stop myself from breathing
so consciousness shall not erase
her etching from my memory,
leaving me alone to wander
earth and stars for some past life,
searching one single moment—
her morning scattered on my pillow.
