a description is what
i’m looking for but one
couched in poetic terms
a metaphor would be handy or a simile
like
this storm was a something
with clouds like this or that
rain like a thing terrible and terribly wet
not an allegory
that’s more story
than poem
but storm words aren’t strong enough
new orleans or stalingrad or dresden might do
but not hiroshima with its flashing death
it was a mighty storm with a killing
wall of water and a wicked wind
and there was no poetry
in the thing i guess
maybe some other poet
can find those words
that will tell the storm
it was too close and too frightening
for me
