Guantanamo I am Poem Against the Coffee Arabica Flower

By Dr. Patrick A ODougherty
I am of Guantanamo.
I wonder about the detainees.
I hear the sound of chains breaking.
I see the guards daily.
I want freedom.
I am Irish.
I pretend the years have not taken their toll.
I feel depressed.
I touch the inside of my bleeding mouth.
I worry about infections and beatings.
I cry for my beloved country, Yemen, in Guantanamo.
I am the Island Guantanamo.
I understand pain.
I say hello/good bye Guantanamo, prison.
I dream my brokenness will mend.
I try to fly.
I hope Barack Obama will hear my plight.
I am the Coffee Arabica, the national flower of Yemen.

I believe you're writing about a Yemeni that's imprisoned at Guantánamo. Certainly a bad situation.
