I Saved A Couple Yesterdays

I saved a couple yesterdays and put them in a box.

I keep them safely stored beneath my bed.

I'm keeping them for times when I would like to reminisce

with something more than thoughts inside my head.

The box is not a big one so there's only so much room.

I think that's probably how it ought to be.

I've got some birthday parties and some holidays and such,

and a few things that are special, just to me.

Some yesterdays I saved might seem unusual to some.

It's not all big events that I replay.

One’s a rainy morning when I still was very young

and I saw my first rainbow on that day

And that's one of those days that over time just slips away,

so I kept it and I put it in the box.

It's nice to know I've got a few that stay just as they were

without the curse of calendars and clocks.

So every now and then I'll grab the box and pick one out

and I go back and have that day again.

It's really quite a treat to take a break from where you are

and spend a little time with where you've been.
