What a gift to all Life on Earth it would be if Nuclear Fusion could be made to work safely. No need to spoil the planet any more to keep the lights on etc! We need a Father Christmas.

Santa’s Gift to Goldilock’s Planet

So where is the chimney? Santa Claus said,
Adjusting his specs, scratching his head.
I’ve parked on a turbine, windy, near here,
And hoping for sherry, or even a beer.

Saving the planet and less fossil fuel
Are two of the things that I think are cool!
I think I’ll go back; summon my elves
To work on the atom, not spare themselves.

So, stop scraping her skin; wasting her blood.
It’s gambling away all that is good.
We’ll make nuclear safe to take away fears,
And give Goldilock’s planet a million more years.

The promise of nuclear fusion seems as far away as an early arrival on Mars. But we don't have to rely on it if we just rely on wind and solar. And you are so right about our wonderful, highly productive Goldilocks planet that we must save if we are to save ourselves.

I got a good reaction to your poem, and I agree.
