She would laugh!! I have been so touched and blessed by all your warm messages of love, support and condolence over the past few days. As you can imagine, nothing is, as yet, permeating the emotional membrane much in terms of my actual loss, but, as I read your words, my heart and soul are stirred by comfort and affection. I bask in your warmth and know this will carry me and prepare me for what's ahead... Like everything, even funerals have to be queued for here in UK! We are in abeyance until next Wednesday, 5th April. It's like circling Gatwick airport, waiting for a landing bay!! :)) Loads of love and thanks, and I hope to get back to reading sometime this weekend. K xxxooooxxxxx

Poem Artwork

STILL

So now it is over,
the clocks have all stopped;
the songbird is silenced,
the bubbles have popped.

The cows have returned
from the fields, gathered in.
The house it is empty
and as neat as a pin.

I have your bright sparkle -
but not your fine legs! :((
And though you are gone still
the question it begs:

how can you be absent -
for days or for years -
when each day in my mirror
your face reappears?

She was a beautiful women Kate and it is easy to see where you got your own good looks from, and if you inherited your big heart from her as well you have a lot to be thankful for. She will always be close by to guide an offer you life in death as in life.

Oh Kate!
I am so sorry for your loss, but I am sure your mom must have been reading over your shoulder as your wrote those words.....She must have given you a cosmic hug and tickle when you got to the part about her fine legs :)
You know, when I first saw the pic, I thought to myself before I read a single word.....Oh that must be her mom!!! She was lovely....as is her talented, high spirited, generous daughter.......
Touching poem of perfection.........there is life in your lines!!!!

Your mum is beautiful, as are you. And do I see something of your spunk glimmering in her eyes? It is amazing how this poem hit me - can really identify with the closing thought. it's something we've all got to come to terms / make peace with. you are in my heart and prayers during this "circling" time. God be with you, Dawn

You are your mother's double in more than one way !
It is at poignant and bittersweet times like this, we realise just how precious time really is...:)

Before I even got to your poem, Kate, I saw the picture and thought, Kate looks like her mum. Like you I must lament I did not get my mother's fine legs either. :-( It's good to be able to smile during times of "actual loss." The smile lets us know the person passing on lived a long and rich life, was loved and gave love beyond measure. So you hold onto these blessings as you cherish the memory of your mother, and we hold onto the wonderful blessing she's left us in you. God be with you and your family, Kate. May His peace and light shine upon you now and always. Loved the sweet poem. ~~Nordette

She was beautiful and you look a lot like her. It is interesting how we "feel" our parents movements and mannerisms in us from time to time. I am so sorry for the grief you will experience. It is so painful, but part of life. You have my love and prayers, Kate. I am so glad I know who you are even though I don't know you. Love, Janet

This is the beauty of passing. The faces and energy lives on in us. It is the best footprints anyone can leave behind.

More than mourning a loss, in these fine lines you honor the enduring beauty, grace, and legacy of your mother's life. I believe that is how it should be. I'm honored to join you in this wonderful salute to your mother's life and happy for this opportunity to thank her for blessing the world with a superb poet named Kate Burnside. We are a part of our mothers as they are a part of us. No matter their physical presence (or not) they remain alive within our spirit and within who we have become as a woman. In our youth we believe we are nothing like them yet as we evolve, we realize how much we are, indeed, the same. It is a lonely road to walk without our mothers, for who else in this world would love us no matter what we did. Being a mother yourself, Kate, you can, perhaps, imagine how difficult it must have been for her to leave you behind as she continued her journey to her appointed destiny. May God bless you and your family and give you the strength to continue to feel and know her love, no matter the distance between your world and hers. My prayers include you, Kate and I ask that the pain of this time become lessened with each passing day.
Take care,
Sherry

Yes, like her daughter, she was beautiful; as are your words bidding her goodbye. Her likeness is almost you, Kate; your eyes, surely, and from photos I've seen, her skin and hair - truly your Mum, reincarnated. What a gift and legacy for living well the life she gave you. You are realizing that when it is time, death is a gift for everyone within the family. Accept it, and go on with living. She did. - Your friend and griever in Georgia, USA
