THE PARTING
In the chapel, you gathered us
one final time
into your arms.
We basked in your reflected glory;
we listened to your voice of encouragement:
“Never fear dying; it is so, so beautiful”.
We felt your presence -
the sunlight on our shoulders –
rocking the babies,
winking, enjoying the latest family
show-biz news,
noticing how your cousins had aged,
placing a tender hand of comfort.
Leaving, you waved a lofty “farewell”
from your place of peace,
back in the years of your contentment.
We followed and laid you low,
covered you with all the flowers you wanted
for you and your beau.
You held us all for one last time,
then we let you go.
Oh Kate! That last line brought tears to my eyes it was SO very beautiful! May she rest in eternal peace with her Lord and may you always feel his love and presence in your life! God Bless you my friend!!!

Ah, what a beautiful write, Kate, and more lovely still because your love shows, and you loved her enough to let her go. I try my best as soon as possible to think on all the time I had the loved ones whom I lose. My mother left in 2000, but she has never gone. She is with me always. {{{{Kate}}}}
No words can explain the way this makes me feel Kate. Sadly I've expirenced 7 in the last 5 years including my fathers...words failed me when he passed and long boughts of 'what-if's'? followed. Your words sum up perfectly what I would liked to have said. A fantastic tribute, may your mother be with you always dearest Kate.

Oh sweet Kate, your words bring comfort not only to you and your family but even allowed me to look back at my own mother's passing so many years ago in a totally new light.This verse said everything there was to say about your mother and more.
