Sassy

Sassy sixteen, but never sweet, Emerald Green eyes, with the stare of the street. Slayer of the dollar with no mercy…

Ready to devour you with crocodile tears and Dreams of the street Her mom’s a crack, dope head master schemes Leader

Pop’s a dope fiend, 2 fingers cut off at the Joint stealer

needles an Blood their 4 course meal obstacle?

to feed on the living and stay asleep,

awake

An walk the tightrope of incarceration over and over again

Only the night shadows know the real game

Fending of f Pain petting and bowing down to its graces

Pain!

Just not to remember the past war of poverty

beatings and war of the races..

Now the only blood they can handle is blood left in the their syringes.

Not Civil Rights streets.

And the children of the Future just sample old music

Blunt to the Beat of the Burning Fire of Past

Revolutionary’s.

Carmen Colon know as ‘’Sassy’’

Born on a Hot Rooftop Night in Spanish Harlem

on Cardboard bed and a Tar Beach

Far From PuertoRico from Indian Spanish ancestors Cultural Reach

Her First Breath

Spanish was taken from her

The second

to wait for food stamps to feed her crying need.

The Hustle began as a Baby

No time to Learn of Culture

just Hustle

Survival

The Drug Legacy Passed From Generation to Generation

With a few extra added chemical emancipations

Technology with its computerized advancements

Steppin backwards with affirmative actions.

Sassy sixteen, but never sweet, Emerald Green eyes, with the stare of the street. Slayer of men an the dollar with no mercy

Dropped out of H.S.

Keep sayin she’d get her G.E.D.

Boy friend Died of an O.D.

They she was diagnosed with H.I.V

Past anger

Past Treachery

Pops died shot in the face

like a True Ghetto Soldier

‘’Don’t end up like me Sassy’’

was the Last thing he told her.

moms disappeared one day never to be seen.

Sassy sixteen, but never sweet,

Emerald Green eyes, with the stare of the street. Slayer of the dollar with no mercy

Green eyes Bitter,

Mean, she passed H.I.V to everyman she could see,

Knocking them down Harder than Mohammad Ali.

Injected her blood in her sleeping boyfriends

When she was ready to Quit them

Sold her blood in Vials like a Hitman.

Became Serpents Eyes, no street game she didn’t Know.

Selling Drugs

Playin the Hoe

Stick ups

Set-Ups

‘’Hanging Paper’’

kicking in a door

Took her medication

Even Prettier than Before

Pretty in Pink

Pretty in Poverty

Passing H.I.V

was how she got her revenge being born Pretty in Poverty

No Opportunities

A Lost Culture

Moms an pops may have found Love in the Heart of the city

But Sassy Eyes are Blinded by the Street Life an big Money

She disappeared one night

Some say she knew to much about drug operations

Dirty Cop Complications

Some say she got greedy

Or deaded for passing

 HIV...

But sometimes

Late at Night

look closely  and you’ll see

a shadow

with a push cart in tow..

and tattered clothes

light a Candle Under the Manhattan Bridge

for sassy and the People who died of HIV.
