Kids will be kids,

Her teachers all said.

If cruel is normal

why does she wish she were dead?

Taunting and teasing,

crush spirits, and berate.

relentlessness, no mercy,

cause helplessness, and hate.

If cruelty is normal,

then someone explain

why normal should cause

such gut wrenching pain.

Shouldn’t we stop them

before it’s too late?

Before those they’ve wounded

unleash all their hate?

No tolerance, no friendship,

no kindness can send,

A child full of anger

straight over the edge.

Let’s redefine normal,

rewrite the mistake

of cruel being normal

and breeding more hate.
