.And so it was later,
As the miller told his tale,
That her face at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale.

Procul Harum

...........................................................................................

There is a private, secluded place I go, where the world belongs to me

where my soul is renewed, and my spirit runs free

and I am able, to construct those metaphysical frameworks

that co exist, between the senses and understanding

that spectacular synthesis, that sheds light on all

within this haven of rest, the wild briars grow

and I can pick out, the right from the wrong

watching the surreal swirls and eddies, of long lost connections

when the velvet touch of love, crystallises from dreams

where the granite stone, symbolises the passage of time

I pause on the brow, of the ancient vantage point

observing the jackdaws, as they fly east to west

wondering why, nothing seems to last on earth

remembering the beginning, the first thrill of love

which quickly dissapears, replaced by the mundane

while a heart as delicate as mine, pines to the brim

for that which once was, has gone to the wall

as the beech tree is rustled, by a sudden draught of wind

a willow warbler sings, it's haunting refrain of summer

whilst the ivy spirals upwards, clinging to the elm

I change direction, and descend towards the knoll

where the elves and faeries, gathered in my youth

and I ran and played, with the awesome friends of my mind

believing to my core, that what you give will come back

I know I haven't changed

It's the world that has gone mad

There is a private, secluded place I go, where the world belongs to me

I have my little private beach...only minutes away from my house..there I bask in the solitude and stillness.. I give thanks for such a gift..without it I would have been in the looney-bin ages ago..lol!

Exceptional write Peter..love it! ( saved)

Wow, that's exactly how I feel, but no one seems to believe me.

THANK YOU for this overview of the Guardian and Shelter of your ageless soul, Peter. Reading this I can fully appreciate, perhaps, why it is you are such a grounded and well-developed individual. You are fully aware and mutually interactive of and with your sorroundings, which you give ample heed to and allow to speak. Wisdom is being at peace with the totality of life around you. And the ability to learn, grow and metamorphose. This is so timeless, and I love the sense of continuity that you have with your environment. Gives me great peace, just reading this lovely account. Bless you, Kate xx

You create a sacred structure of great beauty in which to pour your faith. Thank you for revealing this "private, secluded" place, which is as much inside each being as out there in the world. KQ.

historically, the world has always been mad ... an enlightened spirit can find some level of sanctum and prepare to move on to a more evolved state of being ...

When we turn to nature we're placed within our own senses and learn more about us. It is a mystery how we learn so much of ourselves when we turn to the natural environment that surrounds us...and people pay billions of dollars for a psychologist/psychiatrist when a day alone with nature can turn all negatives around.
Beautiful peace in the photo and every word you gave us here dear Peter.
Shalom...my friend,

What a glorious pocket of privacy, Peter! Though, I must admit, I feel like that gnarled branch oft times these days...

How ardently one finds themselves aching to understand, to retrieve what is lost, yet, surpass it with the new revelations, you speak of. The world has gone mad.........but your faith is solid, and your spirit shall forever rise above the pain and loss.

The beauty from the ashes....is always, but always, your ascendant
poetic fruit!

Astounding write, as always, Peter.
Love& Blessings, Rhonda

Amen Peter! Keep your focus, and direction! Your faith is steadfast, and you don't have to let the world destroy it. I was miserable today for what is happening, but I shook the mood and pray harder for everyone. Splendid poem as always Peter! Love, Eileen

I am not so sure about that thinking about myself...I think I am the nutcracker mad one now!!

Because the world has changed.....and has a big black hole out there sucking me in!!

A Whiter Shade of Pale - what an incredible composition that was, and still is!

What we are viewing now in the world is sobering indeed Peter. I think for me, because of the spiritual ramifications, I do not see too much light in the future. I hope I am wrong!

Sometimes it does seem like everything is changing around us and we remain the same. But then I remember who I used to be, and who I am now, and I always realize that I am changing also.

Your writes always seem to be an amalgam of nature and the philosophical and spiritual ponderings of an insightful and intelligent man. You are very consistent in what you do, and are very appreciated.

Light and harmony ...

A time and place to think, reflect and rebuild...we should all have such a place. Life passes us by too quickly and we reflect on what we could change, do again, or do better...but what we had is gone, there is only today and what lies ahead to build on in the knowledge of what we have learned and of what we have no control over.

This is a superb example of the magic you weave in fabric of nature and the mind.

Life and love are both challenges if they are to be kept fresh and new and exciting and safe from the madness.

Love,
Taylor~

Me? I am jealous . . . But very happy that you have "that" place to go . . . Makes me think of when my dad used to go fishing . . . It mattered not if he caught any fish, it was the solitude I believe that he needed.

Yet another amazing write, Peter. I find myself reflecting on my childhood when I watch my children play and explore their own imagination. It doesn't seem like it's been that long ago that I was playing hide-n-go-seek, tag, and coloring with sidewalk chalk, yet there it is...a distant memory to relive through my children. My favorite part of ALL your poetry is how descriptive you are. I can always see myself there, taking in the beautiful scenery as you tell your story!

Peter, I love your sanctuary! You paint it as it is, and how it effects you, and even how you leave it to its own to return to your former thoughts and comforts. May we all find a place of our own as you have, although I do not see how one could tell about it better than you have. (:D

Peace. Joyce
