..................................................................
Watching the puff candy clouds billowing above
a warm autumn sun cascading dreams on the elms
as I walk through the tinted leaves scattered below
my mind muses the present situation with grace
and a snipe is drumming, in familiar circular flight
I realise to go forward, sometimes requires a reality check
to break with the past, and steer a new course
towards the stars, and welcoming new shores
the snapdragons are fading, in the decreasing light
red squirrels are gathering provisions
for winter's harsh and bleak bite
I have always been a pragmatist
with the caveat, of following my heart
mapping the gridlines, with consummate ease
we really don't know, what is good for us at all
there is an underlying current, that plots the outcome
so to move forward, we must unify our wills
to that which discerns, the beginning and the end
the mysterious wind, began to stir the trees
and I felt a divine hand, ruffle gently my hair
supernatural confirmations, that stilled my soul
while the unbroken silence, called me to heed the call

How beautifully you convey the unparalleled touch of the Holy Spirit, confirming your thoughts!
What we seekers soon learn, is that we must let go of the past, in order to attain the future. Thank God, He nudges us...in the right direction. Ours is to follow, as you have so deftly shown, in this work of art.

I too am quite pragmatic Peter. I am exceedingly more interested in practical results than philosphical excuses. Reality checks come often in my own life. There are quite mandatory, in my opinion, to shaking oneself from the lethargies of "tunnel vision" and staid thinking, and taking stock of exactly whats around you.
The beginnings of new, more powerful seasons in ones life are often subsequent to reality checks.
An excellent thought process here Sir Peter the Perceptive.
