There are Some — And Others

Poem Artwork

And Others

And others step up to the cross,
arms to arms and hands and feet.

Others wrap themselves in cloth,
rich in texture, pure in spirit full
with truth, a kind of which shall well
receive the sacrament of sacrifice —

And share the wine, the bread
of life, that kindness gives the giving of

—       and all that love

within their heads.

What I would call "a mirror poem", reflecting a different light on your previous poem. Well done.

While I believe in gently sharing love, I do not believe in any significance of the cross except as a torturer device or the use of bread and wine to symbolize body and blood. All wrong symbols of the Roman Catholic version of Christianity that makes very little sense. Why would anyone in their right mind, want to share eating the body and drinking the blood (symbolically) of someone they love?

But I will gladly share what I have with strangers and the downtrodden, because I can identify with their shuffling, I hope.

Yes, even as a metaphor, the cloth of truth and the gentle touch of love within their heads. Like the way you indented the message at the end. This is a good companion piece to your previous posting. Readers should pause and think about these thoughts and determine their need to improve in order to become one of the "others."
