Original painting by Chanti

Poem Artwork

O’er still waters of the north
calling loons
announce the morn’
one-hundred miles
from nowhere
to our hideaway
on wooded shores
The smell of brewing coffee
carries on the breeze
Two adolescent
bears play tag
on a fallen tree
A giant crane
wades
in the shallows
with eyes that gleam like steel
Patiently he watches
through the surface
for his meal…
Which reminds me
I’m frigging starving...so...
LET'S EAT !!!!

Cuddles, this is just so you. You inspired the painting and helped me get it right and I loved the verses you penned to go along with it. The last lines made me laugh out loud. I love you!

My kind of place, and what a marvelous painting!

And I'm still waiting for that Minnesota documentary Chanti promised!

Very well done, I love the way it meanders along as a serious write then jumps at the end to capture the humour of it all.

A humorous look at what oft becomes more important than the beauty around us. Beautiful images though, and a lovely image rich in fall colors.
