Legacy is a poem about what we will leave behind after we leave this life.

Legacy
In memory of my parents, John and Ethel Connor…May you both rest in peace.

Each of us comes into this world with a purpose and an opportunity to make a difference in some way.

Many of us spends our days in search of this purpose and the reason for our being.

Each of us wants to leave behind a legacy, one that causes people to; smile or to dream, to hope or to learn, to enjoy or to feel, to share or to love.

All of us, no matter our mission or our age when we leave this Earth, has touched someone in some way, a stranger, a child, a friend, someone next door or some one in another land, someone in pain or someone in need.

What is this legacy that we leave behind after traveling through this life? Why is it so important?

A mother wants her children to be happy, a father their success. A friend wants you to know they cared and you want only to be remembered.

For me, my legacy is only to have touched someone, someone in pain or someone in need, someone alone or someone afraid.

If I can leave here after all my years having helped, really helped just one person, let that be my legacy. If I can help two, so be it.

My parents left me the legacy of their love and support. They left me so many memories that fill my mind and heart but most of all they left me the legacy of their encouragement and inspiration, their courage and their hope.
