Ragged Old Blankie

It is funny how attached children become to an object whether it be a "Blankie", a teddy or a doll...

Poem Artwork

Ragged and jagged and stained to the max

Faded and shrunk a little torn on the back

There’s little pictures of duckies all in a row

Quilting is thinned but she doesn’t know

Was peed on, sick on, held teardrops galore

Been Supergirl’s cape and a bed for the floor

A tent for rainy days, an emergency band-aid

Table cloth for tea time on a table well laid

Fondest memories of her are attached often I brag

Are attached to that blankie, that lovely old rag

If it werent for the blankie, ( the good all rounder) where would parents be LOLOL, this is quaint, cute, lovable, and very very TRUE.

Hoorah hoorah!! Let's hear it for the Hero that is Blankie - you totally nailed it Felix and your rhyming is a delight. Non-sentimental and yet conjuring all the cuddliness that Blankie contains... and ain't it odd how it just wears away with time? Kate Jnr's became no more than a filthy morsel the size of a potato crisp... and only disappeared eventually when it totally disintegrated one day... mind you, that WAS after 20 years!! :)) Absolutely one of my favourites of yours; I hope YOU have found a substitute for Blankie by now... Simon still has his in the form of a handkerchief and we have to turn the bed upside down to look for it if ever it goes missing!! :)) Adorable, thank you! LOL Kuddly Kate xx

This is sweet and funny and brings back memories of my cousin who carried a bankie around. I was too germ conscious to attach myself to a foreign object. I washed my thumb before I sucked it. And my husband wonders why I'm so strange :>[

My daughter carried a blankie for years ... this pome carried me to those days. I can still see her, sleeping so sweetly with that ragged quilt tugged up close to her soft face. Thanks for bringing that all back.

And if you can keep it till that little girl grows up, such wonderful memories will it invoke...I had a teddy, that my mom had to keep re-sewing the head back on...LOL! But I would pay dearly to have him back again...excellent subject matter, Felix bringing back great memories, thanks, Ed & Rufuz

Cuddly, comforting , tender and warm...just like the embrace od a child. This is beautiful Fee abd all the senses get a gentle smile from this woman. We're all carrying around the child inside but we forget that sometime. Your tribute to your daughter's blanket brought my kid out.
Feels good too!!!
Susan
