Wow, what an awsome piece, Fee!! There is nothing more uplifting than pride in one's nation. Don't get much better than that!
I read your addition below and I'm so amazed that they do that. What an honor to receive the flag which represented the nation.
One thing you missed though... I would have included Molson triple X in my tribute, lol, no other beer knocks socks off like this one!

Bravo! God Bless, Canada. After all these years, I still feel a sense of awe when I go to Parliment Hill. When I am in town working - my office over looks the beautiful grounds. I love it in the summer time having a picnic there -- it truly is a sight to be seen. Thank you for sharing. I am glad that you were able to indulge in some of our beautiful city where you were here.

You give me chills as I read this, Probably how you felt as you stood in front of this building, which "Stands" for so much more.

I think you are right, Fee, in equating this to our visiting our capitol. Being from a military family, I remember how awestruck I was by our nation's historical buildings and statues.
And you put it to paper so well.

O, CANADA!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful, Fee, the pride you have in your Nation - as it should be. I love Canada, Canadians, myself. Have many AD friends there, and the staff at Proper Television - had the pleasure of visiting Niagara Falls and Toronto back in 1975 - what I remember most is how clean Canada is, how friendly her people - thank you for being exemplary neighbors! Well done!

Fee, down in Tijuana they gonna call you a "boisterous gringo" that go waving his Adam maple left because he has too little to hide...
I am proud that you are proud, and are proud of my friends in Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia (they are Canadians too)
But I envy you plenty because I never heard of a Canadian burning the flag of his country.

Before I was reading the details of your poem, and was answering my e-mail with the given title only, I imagined an actual red maple leaf and I love red maple leavs!I believe they're my favorite of all! So, anyway, my head was now reading your poem with the leaf out in frontlobe...I became a Red Maple Leaf, floating... pass your Peace Tower, for, I stand for it too... and it is the birthplace of my Scottish ancestors, in Beldune River, NB. I am a part of what you expressed in this poem and I'm going to save it with my favorites, if you don't mind...;) This inspired and brought pride to me also!

Just as a further note of interest the flags that are flown on top of the Peace Tower are changed every 10-15 minutes and place in special presentation boxes to be presented at funerals for all uniformed Canadians who die in their jobs (Servicemen, firemen, police etc.) as well as to veterans who have served their country for over thiry years.
