Our minds and memories are just our life stories waiting to be told for better or worse...

Poem Artwork

The Book of My Heart

I flip through the pages of his mind’s open book

Dog eared and ragged, from the toll the years took

Read all my life stories, both the good and the bad

I smiled at the good times, I cried tears for the sad

There’s full chapters and pages of all that I’ve done

All the saints and the sinners I’ve known one on one

There’s wife’s and sweethearts who once held my heart

Each one was a love story, passion served up “a la carte”

There’s black and white pictures and Kodachrome too

Little stolen moments of time that I can look at all new

I know it’s not some best seller with a string of awards

I smile contentedly knowing they are all my own words

I close the last page where I see your sweet smiling face

It’s captured in the last chapter that time cannot erase…

memories, segments of our lives locked forever in our book of life --we may recall them with sorrow or joy -- but they are, irretrievably lost in time past -- the book of life is complex and bitter-sweet -- but none are without drama -- peace and love to you Fee -- JMW

Felix, Something must be going on out in the universe because it seems many of us are in a very similar spirit, soul, emotional mode.
I just read Richard Cederberg's latest which is very much me right now. And your words...
"Dog eared and ragged, from the toll the years took
Read all my life stories, both the good and the bad
I smiled at the good times, I cried tears for the sad"

I am focusing much time these days, first not eating many kinds of foods, then reading, and prayer, quiet time with God -asking sometimes and mostly trying to listen. I am currently an empty spirit.
Thanks for a wonderful and beautiful write.

The man inspired by a picture, the picture inspired by a man, and the poet putting all together so we can understand why we should love books, like a tender girl waiting to get a hug.
Excellent, Fee.
