The Carousal Stopped Turning
Photo Magic: Frank Kook

Last faint note of the music, faded into gray silence
Now no laughter of children, once actively courted
Who named their ponies Silver, Trigger and Prince
They were the life of the fairground, abruptly aborted
How I miss those days of county fairs and midways
The excitement of the Carneys’ shouted pitch aloud
All those stuffed animals and cheap trinket prizes
Over-spending just to make your girlfriend proud
Now the once vibrant colours, fade, peel and crack
Old ponies, where teenagers sneaked first kisses
Cotton candy flavored lips once shyly came together
Sadly gone now like those sweet summer night wishes…

They still sneak kisses, don't they? ;-)
