Poem Artwork

Snowflakes roll calmly over the edge

of your amusement, drift down like shredded sky.

They are temporary and not serious,

placing their entire bodies upon the mouths

of the chrysanthemums and violets that fill

this field.  I am a blackness, and a melody,

and a serving of the universe’s curiosity

about  itself, watching the snow fall

and melt upon the tongue of my bare chest,

or fly into the curly black rhapsody

of cosmic forest lush beneath my naval,

leaving diamonds and blue to kindle my riddle.

My knees are at home resting on the earth’s shoulder

even as my spirit has been at home expanding

and exploring the energy and pulse of Sirius.

And a sunflower as tall as I wraps its leaves

around my waist as if it were all compassion

and nothing else.  We feed each other our personal

mythologies, weeping about the power of  shadows

and light over our past.  A seductive aroma

strokes the melanin inside my skin and we shudder

prophecies from one moon to the next.

The soft gray hair of dusk spreads outward,

joins with the  whirling dervish snow

to choreograph a jazz ballet of magnetic bliss.

There is an oak tree fond of telling the tale

of my origins and possible destinies.

There is a river singing ballads of miracles

I have yet to achieve.  This lion standing in

majestic silence is an undiluted sexuality

rooted in the gardens of infinity.

Looking up from the lush tapestry of this

nightfallen moment, every third star is a lover

with whom I have found neverending

enigma and uncontainable sweetness.  This snow

falling upon this hill melts down my spine as if I am

made of history and it is nothing less than revelation.

We absorb just enough of each other to discover

a thousand new ways to love and be loved.

My arms are the mountains that hold time in its place.

My tears are the atoms that give substance to space.

My blackness is the music eternity makes when singing itself as me.

Very nice writing! It just pulled me along to your wonderful ending! That is a great way to view oneself as, "the music eternity makes when singing itself as me."

This lion roars. There are no aspects into which He does not see. The pity pith of reality will not be an easy lesson taught...

What I feel from this author's pen is epiphany. No matter the big, or the black or the largeness of the title I meant to read.

There is only color where we want to be berthed. Why oclude hues when we all have worth?

_Aberjhani, as always, I feel your depth in mine, we are of a color, divined.

Yours always in respect, and appreciation of your warm hands upon our souls,

Beautiful and stark images of the black/white pas de deux - exceptional as always. My fav lines: "A seductive aroma strokes the melanin inside my skin and we shudder prophecies from one moon to the next" - AWESOME! - and "We absorb just enough of each other to discover a thousand new ways to love and be loved." Wondrous and harmonic union of all the facets of self and another. LUSH, LUSH LUSH! Gets all the juices flowing! TY and Bless you, Kate xx

The first beautiful line, *Snowflakes roll calmly over the edge
of your amusement, drift down like shredded sky* is merely a prelude to a marvelous write that captures and holds. A splendid piece.
*My arms are the mountains that hold time in its place.
My tears are the atoms that give substance to space.
My blackness is the music eternity makes when singing itself as me.*
I salute you, Aberjhani. Peace. Joyce

Aberjhani, I have to remember to read you last, because I can't read for awhile after you, the spell is too strong. You truly are a gift and Creator has inspired you to inspire others. I also agree with Jerry, it wouldn't surprise me one bit for you to be a legend one day.I feel honored to read you now in this intimate forum, while I can! Thank you for making it possible!

A composition abounding its poetic-philosophic symbolistical imagery, poetizing visions and materializing concepts. This poem has delivered its message to inspire, teach, nourish the reader’s mind and strike the dynamo of imagination to receive cosmological intuition.

I enjoyed the reading of this masterpiece, and learned from its contents.
"Big Black Man Within A Nonsociopoliticohistorical Context" will stand to be read by minds of the millennia.

I salute You, Poet!

May You enjoy a long healthy creative life through an accomplishing living.

In gratitude and reverent admiration,

Rooted in the earth and spirited in the universal plane. Metaphysics seeks to find principle behind matter and experience. This is an exquisite example of that expression! The imagery holds one in trance. Simply/profoundly beautiful, Aberjhani...Lin

I echo Jerry Bolton's comment, "I see a legend in our midst." I will not review this poem "Big Black Man Within A Nonsociopoliticohistorical Context" here because I've reviewed the entire book I Made My Boy Out of Poetry in which the poem is published in hard print. I would encourage others to read my review and to purchase the book. Aberjhani is an astoundingly gifted talent. ~~Nordette Adams

This is too cool, Aberjhani, yes quite metaphysical as already stated but for some reason it reminds me of a guy I knew while being a guest of the NJ Dept of Corrections...his name was Bubba, big, black and beautiful weightlifter...he had no desires to be anything but what he was...like you, a gentleman of color...Ed

Like Andy, II observe the metaphysical herin, but I can't stop there for that is not all I see. there is a hint of the beat poets of the fifties. I see Maya Angelou's influence big time, but most of all I see Aberjjani, naked to the world, writing what will most likely will become the subject of various study groups in most colleges throughout America. I see a legend in our midst.
