Poem Artwork

Uncensored voice from
Scythian tombs
lady barbarian of
the ancient steppe,

first she conquered
the horse, then she
conquered the land,

she reveres her mount
for life, death, and art,
where have all the
cowgirls gone,

the first wave of
excavation done with
finger, truth comes to
us from the past,

the pit is deep, these
holes, decoys to fool
the sexual looters,
where have all the
cowgirls gone,

if you accept the idea
of decoy burial pits,
it suggests the Scythian
lady barbarian is being
threatened by some other
group, where have all the
cowgirls gone,

she has a high level of
cultural development,
puts her self in new light,
rejecting the stereotype
that Scythian lady barbarians
and cowgirls are wild horse
women and warrioresses,

a trove of artifacts inspires
new thinking about the
supposedly course woman
who once roamed much of
Central Asia and eastern
Europe, where have all
the cowgirls gone...

Love the way you blend the ancient with the modern with effortless ease in this one Sage, another unique gem. Apparently we Englishmen have an Indian name too...well according to Andy, mine is 'DavesometimesIsquattowee' LOl.

To brand the nomadic people of Scythia with the red-hot iron of the western United States is an odd coupling, but one that can be mastered. Like the nomads of olde, the woman of the west was nomadic, or they would not have been there in the first place. Wide open spaces to tame. I can see a blond-haired cowgirl racing across the hard-scrable county of the primitive west, one hand on the reins and the other reaching for the hand of her sister, the Scythian
lady barbarian. Gotta love it!
