Alaska's women writers
widely scattered mission
stations by dogsled,
huskies, malamute/wolf
gospel bred, guidance
of Jesuit/Catholic message
ahead, Holy Cross alumni,

the year 2006, a nice
vantage point to look
back to see what has
stayed the same in
Jesuit ministries,

the more things that
change, the more things
that stay the same,
what's in a religious name,

cool morning, temperature
in the 40s, hat, coat, goggles,
gloves, lead dog follows the
mourning doves,

rest in a parishoner's barn,
soup and hot apple cider,
ministry's warming center,

Jesuit ministry travel in the
bush, you'll reach more
loyal souls than preaching
every Sunday for the rest
of your life..

This is intriguing Sage. I always learn more about femakes from your pen. Why is that? :)

Prace love and harmony...may it reign.

I want to rest in the barn with soup and hot apple cider! You are a fantastic story teller, Sage! I envy your talent. This afternoon I decided to try something a bit longer than 5 lines...however it's still in the cinquain form, so it is a poem of 5-line, 22 syllable sequences...old habits die hard. (:

Very interesting Sage! I never thought about dogsled missions, but methinks your last verse sounds like a good point made!
