I have been riding bicycles most of my life and around the world from east to west.

Biking is fun! There are so many types of bikes today, so it’s hard to pick the best!

As a young boy, my dad could not afford a Schwinn bicycle so I got a clone.

Still, it was strong and I loved riding with my friends and even riding alone.

Back then, it was hip to have an electric horn and streamers on the handles, and fancy fenders too.

Before too long I got a horn and dressed up the bike with streamers that were red, white and blue!

Later on, I went to college in Miami and riding bicycles were not as cool as hitching a ride from a friend.

After two years of college I joined the Air Force and transportation of any kind was needed back then…

While in the Air Force I first served in Austin, Texas and we could not afford to buy a car.

So, I bought a Huffy bike and used it to get groceries from a store that was not very far.

 Then I served three years in England at Royal Air Force, Alconbury in Huntington, U.K.

There I bought my first English racer, a three speed Raleigh and rode it almost every day.

Then from England went back to the USA and I biked in Washington State.

Our kids were also learning to just bike and pretty soon they were first-rate!    

We then took off to South Carolina to the Myrtle Beach seashore and summer breeze.

With beach bikes, we could ride in the sand near the sea and travel with relative ease!

Next, we lived four years in the Florida panhandle, in the sunshine once again.

The roads there not the best for biking, so we only went every now and then.

Our next tour was in Japan and for three years; I biked to work almost every day.

I also entered a few biking events and even won a gold medal, racing in a 37K!

Then we went back to Florida to Homestead where the Florida Keys were very close by.

Didn’t stay for too long because a hurricane named “Andrew” blew us out from the sky!

We quickly relocated to Valdosta, Georgia since Hurricane Andrew took our home away.

Then with a new home and friends, I started to ride my bike again, just not every day.

Next tour was Colorado Springs, we picked out “his and her” TREC mountain bikes which was a thrill

For many years I mountain biked with the Air Force Cadets in the Garden of the Gods and up many hills

Then we moved to Southwest Florida and bought a street bike and used the other one for the beach.

Now I bike with friends, family and sometimes with the college kids whom I mentor and teach.

So, looking back I still recall my first bicycle that mom and dad bought for me so very long ago.

I am thankful to have biked many places around the world; I had great times while others were so-so.

This journey continues as I still try and find new and exciting places to bike throughout the internet.

I just found a place today that looks like a great trail! Let’s try it!  For l have not explored this one yet!
