Suzie Palmer's recent loss inspired me to write this poem.

When a loved one dies, R.I.P. is what most say, but is that all?

It's harder when you feel the hurt from the fall.

When loved one dies it's loss of life from this world, forever.

It matters not, if it's an elephant, a mouse, or a friend with feathers.

All we can hope and pray is that the pain is short and light.

Knowing that you did your best, you cared, and you lived life right!

Love and blessings to you, my long lost friend...
Amen, Amen, and Amen...

As a Caregiver, I have stood next to two people at the moment of their death. They both went peacefully and it's strange but I swear there is a slight something like a smile at that moment. Your poem is soulfull!

Love ya!

Well stated with no wish for reincarnations or some kind of glorious afterlife. I think that "rest in peace," is as good as it gets. By the time that most people die, the world has become a very difficult place to live with the onslaught of so many "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune," closing in, that peace is the only thing that is most likely sought.

Why is it that when a loved one dies, it's harder on the living?

I think it does matter who died but what is more important is that we loved. And what is right, is serving God with all our heart, nice write, Michael. Peace!!!
