No parents are completely perfect. My parents were both good and bad.
My mother was a saint to me; my father was very contradictory.
They raise me though many trails of pain, sorrow, joy, and victory!
I went on and raised wonderful children who are now an integral part of me.
I'll never regret going through all of that.
Still, I know am flawed as a dad but have some good traits under my hat.
Both my kids rebelled as teens, and sometimes made a scene.
It’s amazing how they have matured to be so kind, loving and caring.
Now, my precious children, have become even better parents than my wife and me.
Our grandchildren are all productive and outstanding members of our society.
I look forward to the great-grand kids, I have yet to see!
It's a life-cycle of parental skills, that have "thankfully" improved over many years.
It was not easy, but it was worth all the trails of happiness and joy through all the tears.
Signed,
A HUMBLE, GATEFUL GRANDFATHER AND
A VERY “THANKFUL” DAD!

I, too had a wonderful childhood. All of us did quite well except my sister who developed a family trait of Agoura phobia that some of the women in our family have, thankfully overcome with a drug that works. For my sister, late in life.
I have no children, but my brothers have all had children that did not rebel and have excelled in several fields of study and occupation. Only my sister had trouble and lost her first son to drugs and alcohol. Her other two sons are doing well after having a hard time growing up and accepting responsibility.
I have found through observing many families that the fathers who hold strict, tight rein on their children and mothers who helicopter over them, are the most likely to have their children rebel at puberty. I've seen well-meaning parents lose their children like my sister did her son with regret because I couldn't help what was happening.
