The Man Child

Another Christmas is coming and the CEO's travelling in private jets, working for one dollar a year but receiving three-hundred millions bonus.
As many soldiers returning from war with Purple Hearts Medals are coming to a home foreclusure because the greedy got away with it.
When the country will start to practice Semper Fidelis in return?

Poem Artwork

Pains of birth, the mothers are giving
more little soldiers for future wars,
as the factories are churning weapons,
expecting the little soldiers in uniform
to march defying death in no-mans-land,
for what? Just for thirty silver coins.

The Man Child is going to the bank
to hide his ill earned bloody gold,
and if there’s no need for more weapons…
wheel chairs for soldiers returning home
will pay for business mighty loses that
an eventual peace treaty will condone.

Hear the little soldiers singing lullabies
all dressed with the most cute uniforms,
sailors predominant, but one or two Army
in light blue smarts, one, as a flying boy,
they are the seed of not far away future
where there they will have not a voice.

The Man Child will like to be President,
the most important position in the world,
he could then command ten thousand men
to battle so the job he gave can be done,
but forget if you didn’t duck the bullets, that
he take care of the cripples returning home.

The sound of wheel chairs and of crutches,
the march of the never wanted back at home,
asking their country at every Christmas
if compassion and duty the land had lost,
as politicos use every trick on the books, so,
when the call’s coming, not for their sons.

The Man Child don’t want round tables
with their inane discussions to avoid a war,
why have the strongest military might
if your generals cannot use “The Bomb”
when you haven’t no more dumb soldiers
and the job you gave them has to be done.

The Man Child is going to the bank,
to hide his ill earned bloody gold.

Brother, Semper Fi only has meaning between those of us who have gone in harm's way and lived to feel something about it. There is no loyalty nor brotherhood except that which is born and nurtured on the killing field. Great poem!!!

A Fantastic write Brother
When Johnny comes marching home
The only thing he brings back for sure
Is that thousand yard stare
and now unable to find his house anywhere
Peace be with you

The sound of wheel chairs and of crutches,
the march of the never wanted back at home,
asking their country at every Christmas
if compassion and duty the land had lost

Each and every year, for far too many years, I've sadly wondered how and why we as a nation lost that compassion and that sense of duty and responsibility towards them. And each and every Christmas, far too many of them remain lost and all alone.

Strong and intense statement my friend but I would expect no less from a patriot and man of honour such as you. Semper Fidelis

The military personnel is to defend the country,
Soldiers in foreign Jurisdiction aren’t, but “soldiers of fortune”.
They don’t secure peace; they don’t establish security,
They are bricks on the building of criminal war fields!

We can send millions of soldiers abroad to... Defend? < < < but we can't defend our leagl jurisdiction USA. Thousand of tons of drugs get in the country everyday; and thousand of people die due to our shameful omission.

"The Man Child" rings the bell of Justice, I hope that the violators of the Constitution of USA wake up, and make a decision to honor the seats in Congress and Executive Offices. But it would be more effective if people understand that omission is crime.

I am glad to know that we still have people that can think in this country. "The Man Child" sings for a country with a government that respects Her Constitution.

I find it so disheartening the way all of our valiant men and women have been treated over the many years, when it is they and their families who have willingly made such sacriices....

Sad, but so true, and the foreclosures hurt forever and take away the freedom of the soldiers. When they sign up I think they lose a lot of their freedoms too and they are fighting for our country which isn't being helped by the Gov't anyway,we are always giving to other countries instead of taking care of our own peoples.

'Always faithful' indeed!

Your sense of honor and justice and fairness, your willingness to express it, and your clarity of insight without sounding overly cynical, is refreshing Edvard, especially in this ego-centric society.

A powerful and just damnation of hypocrisy that creates, sustains, and promotes war. The only option I suspet is to remove war as an option for solutions to humanity's problems. Until it's taken off the table completely, the scenario presented here is one that will be repeated continuously around the globe.

Appreciate the thought-stimulating read.

Always a pleasure to read your rant against the establishment and how the mothers produce more fodder for the future wars. Sad but that's the way it has always been.

Cannon fodder, for those that build cannons, and those that guide them, and for those that praise that mindset, for it gives them the control they need eventually, and others a false sense of pride
You are bang on as usual, I would think, and especially it being Christmas, that those German Soldiers fighting in the trenches in the first war, and those on the other side singing Christmas songs together, had taken their bayonets and joined to route those forces sitting drinking their champagne in their mansions and castles. Yes there is a time to fight the good fight, but I think we forgot what that is, and propaganda and false images don't make it right. If patriotism has a place of legitimacy you'd think if everyone appreciated it, there should never be a soldier without the care he deserves, there should be a monumental public outcry. Sometimes I wonder about my jaded outlook and where it comes from, but as a youngster in my time, I seen those poor guys come back sitting on mechanic dollies, no legs, no arms, and all their newly so called democratic government could say, It wasn't us that send you. Government it seems is the same the world over, to some, they are the golden calf, or holy cow to others. Mindsets about a lot of things need to change, one of them, is; are we keep on doing the same thing over and over again? Bless you for writing this, especially on Christmas! Jasmin Horst

Georg,

No arguments from this daughter/sister/niece/cousin of Veterans, and an Air Force Veteran, myself: and our soldiers are not dumb. They are only following orders made by those who have no iota of what service or sacrifice truly is: shame. Powerfully penned, your best, yet!

Tell it, Georg, tell it!! You are totally on target. Writing it, I immediately thought, The metaphor (if that's what is is) is wrong.
War-reminiscent! As for "dumb soldiers," I personally feel that our
public schools discourage dissent, for fear that students will refuse to become soldiers and other cookie-cut types. I.e., robots incapable of acting outside the box.

Let's hope that a new day is dawning. One in which peace is not a dirty word and there are enough jobs and education and training opportunities outside the military -- good ones, that is -- to make
it possible to earn a living and otherwise live a satisfying life
without ever picking up a gun designed to kill people.

L o t of bloody gold. SO right.

All need to be reminded from time to time, and you have done an
excellent job.

Love and Peace,

Phyllis
