Ramblings of an old man with a bag full of illusions, wishes and dreams getting heavier with the time, always thinking that maybe, just maybe the new year starting can be "the one!"

“Open the champagne, am thirsty!”
at midnight they will shove fireworks
all over the skies, for a new year and
2010 of them and those of them before!

A time for new resolutions, maybe…
bankers will promise to steal no more,
War Veterans will get claims approval,
Health Care corruption will be taken off,
the rich will pay their overdue taxes
and Congressmen to draft will say NO!
and in fair Alaska, pigs wearing lipstick,
from helicopters the wolves will shot.

Ben Dover will be the next President,
going to no end to apologize even more,
opening borders to cretins with a grudge,
as Iran’s “I’m-a-nut-job” get his bomb.
One old year when we cold have send them
back to the age of the unforgiving stones,
now contemplating a mayhem’s New Year
when we will apologize for no doing so.

As we enter the year two thousand and ten,
our poets and dreamers and assorted authors
will continue to write with peaceful optimism
about a year bringing more rights that wrongs,
hailing the promises of better days ahead
with soldiers from the field returning home,
our homeless no more wandering the streets
and sick poor with no hospital’s closed doors.
